Medicaid - blog 8

After reading the blog of my colleague - Miguel Ramirez, I agreed to him that Texas needs a reform on care system. It is true that by reforming and expanding the health care, it will cost a lot of money and I liked how he mentioned about budget cuts that might happen to all schools. The Democratic is the party that is all about giving the rights to their people however, when it comes to reforming and trying to pass the legislation; there will be money involved and as we know that our country is in debt. As I search for more information, to those Texans who have struggled to find adequate health care could see improved access which expected to bring $4 billion to local doctors and hospitals over five years. According to the article:  No Republican lawmakers have gone on record supporting the Medicaid expansion, which would add an estimated 1.8 million Texans onto the joint state-federal health plan by 2022 and the Kaiser Family Foundation, a health care think tank, estimates the expansion would cost Texas $5.7 billion between 2013 and 2022 .
Yes, money is playing a big part but we have to consider whether Obama should or should not pass the legislation with several reasons. To me personally, by expanding Medicaid, the low-income will be insured ( Texas has more than 6.3 million uninsured residents and the highest percentage without health coverage of any state), reduce cost shifting, expansion supports the broader reform, helping to legitimize it and make it function better which is good for Democrats in November. Then on the opposite side if the government decides to expand, things might happen such as expansion is too expensive for Texas and states in general, the increasing in population, basically everything will be increased. Think about it, if it reforms, then will tax and other costs will raise up?.It is good to have Medicaid but is it the best?. I really don't have a decision because I have pros and cons. Therefore, my stand would be undecided and just an opinion of my own.

Legal vs Illegal Immigration?

Let's talk about Immigration today. As we all know that America is the land that most immigration want to move to. The main reason why everybody wants to go to US is because there is a much greater chance of getting jobs, opportunities and most importantly is better life. There are many more reasons why immigration wants to move to the America. Firstly, jobs are what most of them desired for. The U.S has so many jobs that open for all people that lived in the land included immigrants. They received the minimum wages that they could save up for many things and still be able to send it over to their home land. Secondly, education is what majority of young immigrants strive for. Many families try to send their kids over to the U.S to get a better education because of the environment and the freedom to explore their curiosity  and by having the America's degree; it would mean alot to them. Regardless of what America could do for them; when there's legal then of course there will be illegal.
The President Obama has failed to pass the Dream Act which allowed illegal immigration who came to U.S trying to work and stay. However, I somewhat bias between their requirement and qualification to be consider as legal immigration over illegal immigration. I mean no matter if they are legal or illegal, as long as their background is clear meaning they might be able to stay and live in the U.S? I myself as a legal immigrant had been working with illegal immigrant; they truly work as hard as they could with under-wage range in order to stay. But to some other illegal immgration, we don't know as if they try to harm the country or be a threat to us all. Much said, there are the good and bad point in the immigration issue that has no stopping point. http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/i/immigration-and-emigration/index.html
